Grow Buddy™ thin layer chromatography cannabinoid test kit was developed as a qualitative analysis method for determining the presence or absence of cannabinoids in cannabis / medical marijuana. T.L.C. allows for rapid visualization of differences and similarities in cannabinoid fingerprints! There are other methods for quantitative analysis of cannabinoids that are scientifically recognized as being able to determine the percent per volume THC reproducibly. T.L.C. is not recognized as a reproducible methodology for THC, or any cannabinoid percent per volume quantification.

Montana Biotech™ does offer a THC, CBD standard that has a defined quantity of THC, CBD that can be used as an internal standard/control for each successive T.L.C. run. By using a known volume of THC, CBD during a cannabis / medical marijuana T.L.C. run, a more robust picture of the qualitative differences between the cannabis samples cannabinoid profiles can be analyzed.

I will give an example. If two samples of cannabis / medical marijuana with an unknown cannabinoid quantity are examined using T.L.C. with an internal known standard/control, a more defined greater than, equal to, less than picture can be gleaned from the given results! If the unknown sample produces a result that is more intense than the known sample, one can assume the unknown has a greater quantity, relatively speaking. The reverse would also apply.

So, yes, a quantity can be determined, relatively speaking. This means, Grow Buddy can be used to compare an unknown volume to a known volume to determine if the unknown cannabis / medical marijuana’s THC, CBD quantity is greater than, equal to, or less than the known quantity. This kit will determine less than, equal to, or greater than a given known volume. It will NOT determine a percent per volume quantity. If an unknown sample is compared to a known 15% THC sample, a relative greater than, less than, or equal to quantity can be determined.
