“Wild Weed” also known as, “She Shoulda Said NO!” is an early Cold War era anti cannabis propaganda film. The 1949 film was no different than the 1932, “Reefer Madness”, of years earlier. The focus of “Wild Weed” is the fantastic debauchery and hysteria cannabis consumption fosters. Be a-feared the Reefer man will get yah!

It never fails me how frail women are portrayed. Their lack of self control and good sense are our responsibility to protect. There are plenty of good old fashioned anti cannabis propaganda films out there, and this 1949 film, “She Shoulda Said No” is definitely a classic worth sitting back with. Fire up a joint, grab a tub of popcorn, and rediscover the sense that shit just changes ever so slowly in America… The times, they are a changing!

Wikipedia goes on to say,

“She Shoulda Said ‘No’!” (also known as Wild Weed; Marijuana, the Devil’s Weed; The Story of Lila Leeds and Her Exposé of the Marijuana Racket; and The Devil’s Weed) was directed by Sherman Scott and starring Lila Leeds, it was originally produced to capitalize on the arrest of Leeds and Robert Mitchum on a charge of marijuana conspiracy.

The film was issued under many titles; it struggled to find a distributor until film presenter Kroger Babb picked up the rights, reissuing it as The Story of Lila Leeds and Her Exposé of the Marijuana Racket. Its relative success came only after the promotional posters were redone and a story fabricated that the film was being presented in conjunction with the United States Treasury.
